As with all aspects of agriculture, leasing principles and laws are continually changing.
The Stafford County Extension Councill will be offering an Ag Leasing meeting on Dec. 17 at the Courthouse Annex, 210 E. Third St., St. John. Soup and chili will be served at 12 noon and the meeting will begin at 12:30 p.m.
John Donley, Assistant Legal Counsel for the Kansas Livestock Association, will provide some insight on leases in terms of: Lease Structure and Elements of a Good Lease; Legal Details of Leasing and Kansas Ag Lease Law; Liability Issues involved with Prescribed Burning; Injury and Hunting or Recreational Leases; and Insurance Rcommendations for Each Party in a Lease.
Troy Dumler, Southwest Area Ag Economist for K-State Research and Extension, will share some information regarding the current trends of land values and rental rates. Also, he will provide some information about the most common factors which lead to an incrase or decrease in the value of a property for leasing.
