With crop production input costs at an all time high and crop prices acting as a moving target, Ag producers look for ways to optimize yields and reduce costs. One way producers can accomplish this is to learn about their soils and how to manage the soil fertility.
Thursday, Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Courthouse Annex at 210 E. 3rd St., St. John, is the place to be for the “Soil Basics 101” program sponsored by the Extension Councils of Stafford, Pratt, Barber, Kiowa, Harper and Commanche Counties.
Speakers for the program will be Dr. Dorivar Ruiz Diaz, KSU Nutrient Management Specialist and Dr. Kent Martin, South West Kansas Extension Crops and Soils Specialists.
Topics will include Soil Basics, Soil pH, Soil Nutrients (N,P, K and micronutrients) and Nutrient Management.
