It’s a Re-Grand Opening, St. John:  Saturday, June 12, 8 a.m. Dollar General.  What good guys these folks are - they are having another “grand opening” but this time, there will be coupons going out in the mail to households in St. John we can use.   The first grand opening was welcomed but if we can save even more money with those coupons, then bring it on. Make your shopping lists now and wait by your mailbox.

Commodities - they’re here!, St. John:  Wednesday, June 16 from 9 a.m. to noon, is the Commodity Distribution at the Sunflower Senior Center.

I’m a cowboy, baby, St. John:  Saturday and Sunday, June 19 and 20 from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. at the Buzzard Roost Ranch in St. John is the Summer Horsemanship Clinic hosted by Mark W. Miller and the Miller Horse Company.

Now Mark, seen on the right here with two of his happy clients,  is a local boy but are you aware of his qualifications?  How about multiple NCHA World Finalist, multiple NCHA Limited Age event finalist, multiple APHA World qualifier and Wyoming State Broke By Sunset Colt starting champion.

Open to students and horses of all levels, this is a clinic that will ensure your success by using proven principles of horsemanship.

Lunch is provided and the clinic is limited to 8 people - with or without your own horse.

Don’t get stuck in the saddle, make your reservation right away. Contact Mark W. Miller at 620-546-4392, Denise Miller at 620-338-5739 or email deny67801@yahoo.com

Attention: All fat fish.  Report to my hook immediately, Truman Lake :  Saturday and Sunday, June 26 and 27,  mark your calendars for the Big Bass Bash on Truman Lake that will pay out over $54,000 in cash.

The Big Bass Bash is for amateurs only. Its unique format allows the weekend angler a chance to win like the professionals. Unlike most fishing tournaments which have a team arrangement where prizes are based on total weight, the Big Bass Bash format is distinctive in that it only takes one angler just one big bass to win! The top 3 heaviest bass of the weekend will win these guaranteed cash prizes - $10,000 to first place, $5,000 to second place, and $2,500 to third place. If the Truman Lake Big Bass Bash hits their mark on entries, they will pay $20,000 to first overall, $10,000 to second overall, and $5,000 to third overall.

In addition to the overall prizes, there will be over $33,000 in guaranteed cash prizes for the top 10 largest bass caught during each semi-hourly weigh-in, for a total of 83 guaranteed places paid out.

Yep, we know this is a little further to drive to but hey, we’ve probably all driven further for a lot less and $10,000 cash is a pretty good motivator if you ask us.
