Dichroic Glass Light Sculpture by Ray Howlett: March 19 - May 2 at the Dane G. Hansen Museum in Logan. Dichroic is a big word with a big impact. Dichroic glass art is an original American art movement of new materials. It’s not a pigment or dye - it’s optically controlled wavelengths of light caused from ultra-thin layers of mineral oxides deposited onto glass. A sheet of clear glass transforms into a colored transparent mirror that reflects one color while at the same time transmits the opposite color through the coating and glass. It’s a mesmerizing, spectacular medium and a prolific, earth conscious artist. For more info, call 785-689-4846 or visit www.hansenmuseum.org
