Sculptures, paintings, photographs and 2 and 3D graphics from the minds of high school artists adorned the walls of Barton County Community College’s Shafer Gallery for the annual Central Prairie League art show.
Students from USD 350 got a chance to show off some of their art in more than a high school setting when they attended the CPL Art Show, April 26 at BCCC’s Shafer Gallery, April 26.
Rhian Collins won best of show in the 2D category with, Roots, her crayon-melted artwork mounted in a shadow box.
For the first place award, Collins received a $500 scholarship. She was also awarded a fourth place honorable mention award in the design category.
Beau Weber received a first place award for his ceramic box sculpture, "Retro with a Twist". He was also awarded a first in Painting Acrylic/Oil. Zuriel Reyes received a fourth place honorable mention with his ceramic "Elephante” sculpture.
Particpants from USD 350 were Beau Weber, Zuriel Reyes, Preston Miller, Jacob Blunt, Rhian Collins, Alexis Witt, Omar Ramirez, Francisco Calleros, Trina Schlottheuer, Kendra Hacker, Sierra Reed, Flower Mata, Ethan Lantherman, Alyson Smith, and Tiffany Heaton.
The show had 15 categories ranging from Ceramics-Wheel, Thrown to 2D Design Color. We will have artwork in all the categories except Computer Generated Art, Printmaking, and Photography.
Award certificates and medals were given out to first, second and third place winners. $500 scholarships were given in 3D Best of Show, 2D Best of Show, and All-Around Best of Show.
Each of the schools attending were allowed to bring 15 students and up to 25 pieces of artwork.
All St.John art students will display art works in the community room of the Ida Goodman Library. May 3rd-10th.
