  • The Annual Stafford County Extension Wheat Variety Plot Tour will be held on May 15.
    Dr. Jim Shroyer, K-State Research and Extension Crop  Production Specialist, will be on hand to discuss the wheat varieties and answer any questions that you may have. 
    Dr. Erick DeWolf, KSU Extension Plant Pathologist, will discuss"Diseases Affecting the Wheat Crop”.
    There are two wheat plots planted at this site. The first contains 21 varieties and was planted on Oct. 12, 2011.  The second plot was planted on Nov. 17, 2011 and contains 10 varieties.   Also at this location is a Wheat Radish plot that was planted on Oct. 3, 2011.
    The tour will begin at 11:30 A.M. with a hamburger feed, sponsored by the Kanza co-op, at the Test Plot Location.  From St. John go  2.5 miles south on Highways 50  and then .5 mile west on Highway 281 Or .5 Mile West of The Junction of Highways 50 and 281 and 1/8 north  (Old Sandyland Experiment Field).
