• St. John players have winning summer basketball season

  • St. John’s seventh grade boys team went 4-1 and won the Hays MAYB tournament recently defeating an all star team from the Dodge City area which had three kids 6-0, 6-3 and 6-4.

  • St. John’s seventh grade boys team went 4-1 and won the Hays MAYB tournament recently defeating an all star team from the Dodge City area which had three kids 6-0, 6-3 and 6-4.



    The team won the Championship game in overtime.


    The high school boys team also won the tournament, going 5-1. They defeated a Northwest Kansas all-star team in the quarter-finals by 20. They beat Liberal high school team in semis by 13, and then Ellis in the finals by nine points.


    “We only had six guys playing Sunday,” said sponsor Clint Kinnamon.


    The Seventh grade team is: Cole Kinnamon, Jorge Calleros, Sammie Ramirez, Alexis Valenzuela, Cade Roberts, Chase Fisher, Quincy Smith, Eddy Ibarra and Mason Osborne.


    High school team players Sunday were Ethan Long, Spencer Nusser, Kade Kinnamon, Zuriel Reyes, Dean Wade, Gera Calleros. Playing Saturday but not Sunday: Omar Ramirez and Juan Neri-Leon.


    The junior high team is also undefeated in summer league at Sterling. The high school team has one loss, when three starters were at Bill Self basketball camp according to Kinnamon.
