Summer courses, scholarships offered for Kansas teachers

Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom (KFAC) will again offer graduate-level summer courses through Kansas State University in 2010.  KFAC summer graduate courses are designed to re-energize Kansas educators and introduce them to delivery methods and resource materials which can be used to incorporate agriculture into the curriculum.

Loan and grant programs

TOPEKA –  USDA Rural Development Area Director Richard Boyles announced today that the Agency will host an informational meeting on February 26th  in McPherson covering USDA’s business, community facilities, housing, and water and environmental loan and grant programs.  The meeting, co-hosted by McPherson Chamber of Commerce, will be held at the Tres Amigo’s Mexican Restaurant and will be open to the public.

Rabid Dog in Barton County Serves as Reminder of the Importance of Pet Vaccination

A dog in Barton County has tested positive for rabies following a fight with a skunk three weeks ago. The dog had not been vaccinated against rabies. Eight people who came in contact with the dog are receiving rabies vaccinations as a precaution.

2010 Weed management and sprayer technology school

The Brian & Carolyn Dunn family, Stafford County, were honored as one of ten Kansas Farm Bureau 2009 Families of the Year at the KFB Annual Meeting, Nov. 20 in Manhattan. The Dunns with sons Preston, Ian and Garrett, accept the award from Keith Miller, Barton County (right), KFB 7th District Director.

Beginning Birding at wetlands center

Getting started in bird watching may seem a daunting task but a new program at the Kansas Wetlands Education Center will make it seem easy. Birding 101, offered at 2 p.m. on Nov. 22 at the Center, will provide beginning bird watchers with information on equipment, bird guides and bird identification.

Cloverleaf 4H Club thankful for their winning window display

The Cloverleaf 4-H Club held their regular meeting held November 1at the Macksville Grade School.
"What are you thankful for?"was the roll call. It was answered by 13 members and 2 leaders. Most people were thankful for their families! Mark Renfro lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Billy Burnett lead us in the 4-H Pledge.
