The Bunny stops here, St. John:    Thursday,  March 31 and April 7 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the Square. Rumor has it the Easter Bunny is buying his eggs here.  Three sizes to choose from $1 - $1.50 dozen. Don’t be left with egg on your tail feathers - get down early and buy lots.

Rapturous Raptors, Great Bend:    March 31 and ongoing.  The Raptor Center at the Great Bend Zoo has a super cool new interactive software program called the eBird Trail Tracker which is a user friendly electronic gateway to bird sightings.  It offers photos, video audio and history info about bird on the site checklist. The Raptor Center serves as the entrance to the Great Bend Zoo and functions as a temporary sanctuary for injured raptors and other birds.  Get outta the house into the sunshine and visit the Raptor Center - it’s free!

Let’s go shopping, St. John:    Thursday, April 1 at 1 p.m. join up at the Witt Center in St. John and enjoy the shopping trip to Pratt sponsored by the USD 350 Rec Commission. Afterwards is a stop at Woody’s for supper (gotta love those Woody burgers) and back by 6 p.m. RSVP at 549-6549 by March 31.

Seder Meal, St. John:    6:30 p.m., Thursday, April.  It’s become a yearly tradition as the St. John United Methodist Church celebrates Passover with a Seder meal.  Held at the church, Rev. Harlan Rittgers will be leading this worship service and invites everyone to join together to observe and participate in this meaningful rite.

Grand Opening of Pueblo Nuevo, St. John:  11 a.m., Saturday, April 3, is the date we’ve all been waiting for!  Join the Lopez family as they open the doors to the newest Mexican-American restaurant in St. John.  Choose great dishes from an extensive menu and let the kids choose from their own menu items, too.  And don’t forget - they’re open til 9 p.m.

Easter on the Square, St. John:  3 p.m., Saturday, April 3 - It’s the annual Easter Celebration with egg hunts and races and silliness and all sorts of fun things to do like sack races and spoon race events and peep-eatin’ contests.  Don your Easter Bonnet and come out and enjoy one of the best times of the year!  Anyone that is allergic to chocolate is encouraged to drop off their unwanted candy to the St. John News who will dutifully dispose of it free of charge.

Easter Sunrise Service, First United Methodist, St. John
:  Sunday, April 4, 6:45 a.m. at the St. John First United Methodist Church. What a wonderful way to celebrate the most profound event in Christianity with the youth of the church leading the Easter Sunrise Service.  Everyone is warmly  invited not only to attend but to stay for the free breakfast immediately following the service.

Easter Sunrise Service, The Fox Farm Pond, Eden Valley Church of the Brethren:    Sunday, April 4, 7 a.m., Eden Valley Church of the Brethren will host a beautiful Sunrise Service on the pond at the Jim and Judy Fox Farm on NW 50th Ave-Eden Valley Road (about a half mile north of the church). Bring a carry-in breakfast to share at the Fellowship Hall following the service.  Regular Sunday service will be held at 9 a.m.  Call Pastor Tom Harrison for further info at 620-388-2923 or email him at tomalannaharrison@gmail.com  No matter who you are - all are welcome on this glorious day!

Ten O’Clock Classics, Pratt:  Pratt Community Concert Assn has rescheduled the Ten O’Clock Classics to April 8, 7 p.m. in the Pratt United Methodist Church. This quartet mixes styles, instrumentation and genres-even tossing in some jazz rhythm to create what Wynton Marsalis describes as the joy of classical music arrangements for the uninitiated. Featuring arrangements that have been enjoyed in bars, health clubs, jazz clubs and even NBA half time entertainment to Carnegie Hall, Parisian and Melbourne International Arts Festival venues, there’s definitely something for everyone. Tickets at the door are $15.

It’s a road trip, St. John:    Tuesday, April 13, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. C’mon - when is the last time you were in Greensburg?  They’ve got new shops, new eating establishments and a new hospital so get down to the Witt Center and spend a day in the new Greensburg.  You’ll be back by 4 p.m. Sponsored by the SJRC.

If it moves, shoot it!,  Russell:  Sunday, April 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. it’s the BCC Foundation’s 3rd Annual Sporting Clay Shoot. Last year saw 153 shooters and this year promises to be bigger and better. Funds raised will support mini grants for Barton’s faculty to enhance student learning.
Open to all ages - they've had shooters from 12 to 82 - and the shoot will have individual and 3 person teams competing in special shoots, side competitions and prize drawings. Entry is $50 per person or come out and be a spectator and buy a $10 lunch ticket. Lots of prizes, lots of fun and a chance for perfect scorers to win a John Deere Gator ATV. Don’t get outta Dodge - get into it!,  St. John:    Friday, April 29 at 8 a.m., it’s a senior trip leaving the Witt Center and heading to the SWKAAA Expo at Dodge City. Take a hike, dude, Fort Larned:  Springtime is the best time to hit the walking /jogging trail at Fort Larned. The Visitor Center opens at 8:30 a.m. and you can pick up a trail brochure and directions and if bird watching is your thing, be sure  you ask for a bird check list. Don’t forget there’s a great picnic area too. Free admission and Fort Larned National Historic Site is located six miles west of Larned on Hwy 156. Visit www.nps.gov/fols for more information.
