Melody Poole Memorial Concert: Saturday, May 2 7 p.m., Calvary Baptist Church, Stafford. Come out and rock to "Crossing the Water", a local band that will be dedicating their evening to Melody Poole - their friend and classmate - who recently died in a car accident. What a great way to honor her memory with fun and music and a good message! CDs will be on sale with proceeds being donated to her memorial.
Bikes-Blues-Food-Fun in Macksville: Saturday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2, the City Park in Macksville is gonna rock out with some of the coolest bikes and hottest music in these here parts. Talking about music, you’re gonna see and hear Larry Howard of Grinderswitch and Band from Macon, and Will Segraves from Talbottom, Georgia along with Gerry McCann from Andover. The “Power Man”, Duane DeGravel will also be giving a Strong Man Demonstration, too. We bet this is the guy we need around when we can’t open the pickle jar.

Heartland for Haiti, Great Bend: Sunday, May 2, 3 p.m. is a wonderful, wonderful, benefit concert sponsored by the Star of Hope. Your help is needed to build a new school for the children of Hesse, Haiti. These 360 children lost their school, church and many of their homes on January 12, as we refer to the Haitian earthquake.
“Michael O”-the extraordinary musician from Kansas City will join with Jenny Allford on piano and vocalist Melanie Ryan for a fun time of music for the whole family. ALL donations and ticket sales will go toward the Heartland for Haiti and no earthquake relief funds are being used for the event.

Dancing feet are happy feet, Great Bend: Sunday, May 9, 7:30 p.m. is the Barton Dance Theater Spring Concert. Held in the Fine Arts Auditorium, 20 dance students will be performing jazz, modern dance and hip hop. An ongoing new event is the walking cemetery tours which are self guided with brochures detailing historical highlights, maps and tombstone symbol meanings - 24 hrs a day.
