Kansas Wetland Education Center program “Peep Show” – 7 p.m., at the Center, 592 NE K-156 Highway, 10 miles northeast of US 281 and US 56/K-156 intersection. For all ages, participants will learn about the eight species of frogs and toads inhabiting Cheyenne Bottoms, listen to their calls and then take a short hike to identify some of the singers

Sunflower Senior Citizens center covered dish supper, 6 p.m. Terri Koelsch will present the program on "Identify Theft"
Saturday May 9
Mother’s Day Off event, 9 a.m. to noon, at Quivira National Wildlife Refuge. Event offers nature show, crafts, fishing and cook out. For more information, call the refuge at 620-486-2393 or email foq@friendsofquivira.org.

Monday May 18
ST. JOHN - Ticket sales end for Alumni banquet. The annual St. John-Hudson-Alumni Banquet is set for at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, May 23 at the St. John High School Gym. Tickets are now on sale for $12.50 at the St. John National Bank and American State Bank in St. John and UMB Bank in Hudson. In order to give the caterer an accurate meal count on tickets, sales must end May 18.
Tuesday May 19
The St. John Booster Club will be sponsoring the high school all sports banquet on Tuesday, May 19 at 6:30 PM in the main gym with Wheatland Cafe catering. The meal will be provided free to all 2008-09 St. John High School athletes and immediate families with donations accepted from others attending. Reservations are required by May 15 to the high school office: 620-549-3277.

First annual Croquet in the Square tournament - Sunday afternoon sponsored by the St. John Class of 1969 as part of the Fabulous 40th Reunion. The tournament will be open to all ages and fun for everyone that wants to come and watch too according to event organizer Alice Lockridge. It is our plan to have four games going at a time, one in each quadrant of the park. Money raised will go to benefit the Hood Science Techtorium.
