The Lady Mustangs faced tough ranked opponents in two meets.

The Macksville Lady Stangs volleyball team were quite busy last week as they traveled to Greensburg on Tuesday, and then a few days later hosted their own tri last Thursday.

And it happens just about every year where they tangle with some of their toughest competition at the beginning of the season, namely 4th ranked in 2A Kiowa County.

First came the Kiowa County quad where the Lady Stangs varsity were 1-2 , first going up against Hodgeman County and taking a hit, losing to the Longhorns 12 – 25, 15 – 25. Then came the highly ranked Kiowa County Mavericks, the Lady Stangs taking their second lose 15-25, 13-25. However there was light at the end of tunnel as the Macksville gals defeated Norwich 25-18, 25-15, a team that was a power house in recent years.

The junior varsity lost to Hodgeman 11-25, 9-25, to Kiowa County 16-25, 10-25, then defeated Norwich in three sets 20-25, 25-20, 25-19.

At home, the Stangs played it close, but not close enough as they lost to 8th ranked in 1A La Crosse 33- 31 in the first set and lost the match 17-25.

Next came the 4th ranked in 1A div. 2 Otis-Bison, the Lady Stangs losing the first match 15-25, but them gave the Cougars a run for the money, but still losing the sec-ond set and match by three points 22-25.

The Macksville Jv lost to Otis-Bison 4-15, 6-15, and to La Crosse 7-15, 10-15.

The Lady Stangs next meet will at Macksville on Tuesday the 12th.
