STAFFORD — Bonnie M. Guthrie died Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Leisure Homestead, Stafford.  Bonnie was born August 12, 1925 on a farm south-east of Preston, Kansas, the daughter of Roy and Irma Carr Merkle.  Bonnie was a resident of Stafford since May, 1946, moving there with her husband, Al and two children, after Al was discharged from the US Army Air Corp, following World War II.  Al preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 2003.

Bonnie was secretary to the Superintendent of Stafford Schools and Board Clerk for thirty-six years from 1952-1988.

She was a member of the Stafford United Methodist Church, Modern Homemakers EHU, Chapter BK PEO, and served on the Stafford Senior Center Board as treasurer for a number of years.

Bonnie is survived by her Daughter: Kay Kinnamon (Jerry) of St. John.  Son: Philip Guthrie (Linda) of Manhattan, KS.  Grandsons: Kurt Kinnamon (Cindy) of McPherson, Clint Kinnamon (Tara) of St. John, Scott Guthrie (Jill) of Cheyenne, WY and Seth Guthrie (Barb) of Encinitas, CA.  Ten great-grandchildren: Kade Kinnamon, Cole Kinnamon, Kaley Kinnamon, Kyler Kinnamon, Jace Kinnamon, Tristin Guthrie, Hannah Guthrie, Cy Guthrie, Luca Guthrie and Gia Guthrie.  Half-Sister: Dixie Jennings of Mannford, OK.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Fern Buckmaster and Maxine Flynn, both of California.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 24 at Minnis Chapel, Stafford.  There will be no visitation, the casket will remain closed.  Burial will be at Stafford Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, Bonnie requested memorials to Stafford USD 349 Educational Endowment Fund, in care of the chapel.
