The Lady Mustangs stampeded the Stafford Trojans with a 52-35 win.
The Macksville Lady Stangs stampeded the Stafford Lady Trojans 52-35 in front of their home crowd last Friday night.
Starting out, it looked as if Macksville’s Jenna Russell was off to her best start of the season as she canned two 3-Pointers.
Eventual leading scorer BrayLyinn Anshutz started on a good note as she made five baskets, most if not all coming from inside or short turn-a-round jumpers. She was also 1/2 from the line. Lyset Ibarra made a basket and went 2/2 from the line. Cindy Ibarra made a basket.
At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Stangs led 23-11.
Russell continued the Russell tradition as she nailed her third and fourth 3-Pointers. Anshutz added four points to her total, making a basket and went 2/4 from the line. Cindy Ibarra made her second basket, and Lyset Ibarra was 2/4 from the line.
Macksville scores 14 points and leads 37-20 at the half.
Lyset Ibarra, who leads the Stangs in three point shots this season finally found her mark in the third as she canned two three-Pointers. Lexi Wright made a basket.
The Lady Stangs outscored Stafford 8-7 going into the fourth, leading the Trojans by 18, 45 -27.
Lyset Ibarra continued to score, and went 3/4 from the line. Cindy Ibarra, Anshutz and Denise Galan, each made a basket.
The Macksville Lady Stangs defeat the Stafford Trojans 54-35.
Leading score for the Stangs was Anshutz with 17 points, followed by Lyset Ibarra with 15. Russell had 12 points, Cindy Ibarra 6, Wright 2, and Denise Galan with 2.
“Tonight was a good night for the girls” said Macksville’s head coach Chet Skinner. “We had a lot of girls step up and play well. We got off to a good start and were able to get the ball inside against their zone which helped set the pace of the game.”
“Next Tuesday we look to finish up this stretch before Christmas with a big road game vs Cunningham.”
