SEDGWICK — The Hesston High School girls’ basketball team saw a fourth-quarter comeback fall short in a 56-51 loss to Central Kansas League rival Haven Saturday in the Class 3A sub-state finals in Sedgwick.

Hesston trailed 16-8 after the first quarter, 31-16 at the half and 41-26 after three quarters.

Haven did sink 10 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off the Swathers. Hesston was 11 of 13 from the line in the final period.

Haven was led by Faith Paramore with 24 points, hitting four 3-pointers and eight of 10 free throws.

Elise Kaiser scored 18 points for Hesston, hitting 11 of 12 free throws. Alaina Dunlavy added 13 points.

Hesston ends the season 17-5.

Haven, 19-3, will face Scott City at 8:15 p.m. Thursday in the first round of the Class 3A state tournament at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
