WICHITA — The Wichita Thunder had its largest home crowd of the season at 13,175, but fell to the Tulsa Oilers 3-2 Friday in ECHL play at INTRUST Bank Arena.
Wichita drops to 33-28-6-2, tied with Allen for seventh place in the Western Conference and third place in the Mountain Conference. Tulsa improves to 31-26-3-8, one point behind Wichita and Allen.
Wichita has three games to play, while both Tulsa and Allen have four games remaining.
Tulsa scored the first three goals of the game. Kyle Rhodes scored an unassisted goal in the first period. Roman Ammirato scored midway in the second period with assists from Evan Richardson and Rhodes. Joey Sides scored late in the third period with assists from Alexandre Ranger and Steven Kaunisto.
Wichita scored midway in the third period on a power-play goal by Ralph Cummedi with assists from Chad Butcher and Mark MacMillan. With 5:29 remaining, Travis Ewanyk scored with an assist from Travis Brown.
Wichita was outshot 33-26. Jake Hildebrand had 24 saves in goal for Tulsa. Nick Riopel had 30 saves for Wichita.
The Thunder hosts its final home game of the season at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday against Allen.
