HESSTON — The first-year Hesston Swather baseball team overcame 10 errors to claim a 15-14 win in eighth innings over Kingman-Norwich Monday in Central Kansas League play at the Hesston High School baseball field.

Down 8-5, Hesston scored nine runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead. Kingman came back with six runs in the top of the seventh, but Hesston scored in the bottom of the eighth for the win.

Jared Nelson went two for three hitting for Hesston, driving in three runs. Ben Roth went two for three with two RBIs. Matt Whitsitt and Brendan Boles each went two for two with an RBI.

For Kingman, Brendan McBeth went three for four with five RBIs.

Austin Griffin threw 1.2 innings of relief for the win. Starter Cameron Cox struck out 13 in five innings

Kingman used six pitchers with Christoper Ontiveros taking the loss.

Results of the second game were not reported.

Hesston is 4-11 and hosts Hoisington at 4 p.m. today.
