The Lori Lamb Scholarship has been created in memory of the late Lori Lamb, farmer, coach, sportswriter and prominent member of the Macksville community. She had fought cancer since September 2008, losing the battle in June of this year.

Mike Lamb, cousin and coordinator of the scholarship, made the announcement on behalf of her family.

"I know of several people wanting to contribute to a memorial/scholarship through the school in honor of Lori", he said. "Providing a scholarship opportunity for a Macksville senior girl would be a great way to honor her and she would be very pleased."

The cash scholarship is being funded through contributions, which are tax deductible. The scholarship will continue to be an annual offering to a student, as long as it is funded, so it's a great opportunity for friends and family or those that felt Lori's impact on their lives to honor her.

Contributions can be made out to  Macksville USD 351 Foundation for Education and note "Lori Lamb Scholarship" in the memo area. Send to Mike Harvey, USD 351 Superintendent, P. O. Box 487, Macksville, Kansas 67557.

"Lori was involved in so many different areas of the school from coaching to alumni fund raising to substitute teaching. Her citizenship activities really stood out.", said Lamb. "That's the type of recipient that will receive the scholarship."
