St. John police chief resigns

St. John’s new chief of police resigned, after an extended special meeting of the city council, Tuesday.

Complaints and allegations from members of the city police force and some city officials culminated in a special meeting of the council that involved several executive sessions between council members, city clerk Johnna Stanford and each officer on the police force in individual meetings.

Vandals set several fires near Stafford on Halloween night

Apparently some folks think it’s fun to set fires on Halloween. A giant pile of trees piled up at the first corner west of Stafford on Old Highway 50 was one of several fires started Monday night.
