Shooting claims life of Stafford resident

 An accidental shooting took the life of Stafford resident Becky Gantz, 47, at approximately 4 p.m. Sunday.

Stafford Sheriff Jeff Parr told reporters the shooting occurred in a private vehicle on U.S. Highway 50 near the Stafford airport.

Lisa Lamanque, 40, Stafford was driving the vehicle when Charles Astle, 55, who was sitting in the back passenger –side seat of the car found a handgun in the vehicle. Astle picked up the gun to see if it was unloaded the gun allegedly discharged striking Gantz, who was sitting in the front passenger seat.

Gantz was pronounced dead at the Stafford County Hospital.

The vehicle has been impounded and Parr said the incident is currently under investigation.
