Sam and Sharon Crissman of St. John will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an Open House reception on Sunday, Sept. 25 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the American State Bank Hospitality Room in St. John.
Sam Crissman Jr. and the former Sharon Estes grew up living three miles from each other in rural Stafford county but only talked for the first time during harvest of 1960 while waiting in line at the Dillwyn elevator to dump grain from their respective trucks.
Following their courtship they were married on Sept. 24, 1961 in Macksville. Sam is a lifelong Stafford County farmer and Sharon is a homemaker.
Hosting this celebration are their children, Kelly and Marcia Crissman, Kirby & Leah Crissman, Brian & Kris Brown, all of St. John, Ken & Rhonda Crissman, Troutman, N.C. and their grandchildren, Kayla, Kinser, Schuyler, Katrena, Kourtney, Kerisa & Erin.
