SYLVIA – F. Elizabeth “Betty” Clothier Kinnamon passed from this life at her rural Sylvia home, Dec. 30, 2009. Born March 2, 1917 to Delbert and Vera Bland Clothier, her childhood years were spent in several Kansas and Colorado communities where her father was a gospel preacher for the Church of Christ. She graduated from Sylvia High School in 1936. On August 26, 1936, she married Wilbur Kinnamon in Windom. All her life she was active in teaching children’s Bible classes at church and was a skilled seamstress and tireless worker.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Wilbur of Sylvia; son, Jerry & wife Kay, St. John; daughter Carol Jo Stratton & husband Robert, Sylvia; grandson, Kurt Kinnamon & wife Cindy, great-grandchildren Kaley, Kyler and Jace, McPherson; grandson, Clint Kinnamon & wife Tara, great-grandchildren Kade & Cole, St. John; sister, Vida “Katie” Clothier, Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Willard and Austin, sisters, Geraldine Rottmayer, Eunice and Dessie Clothier.
She loved to attend her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s school activities and tried not to miss watching and encouraging them in their sports activities.
Funeral was held Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. Burial will be in Hazen Cemetery, rural Sylvia. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in memory of Betty to Hospice Care of Kansas in care of the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southwind Hospice in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O.Box 34, St. John, Kan. 67576.
