The Stafford County Board of County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, March 8 with all commissioners presesent. Minutes of the March 1 regular meeting were approved.
Tax roll correction approved.
The matter of permitting Ron Culbert the authority to go through the E-Waste materials at the landfill was discussed. According to the regulations set down by Rice County, the facilitator of the program, “no unpermitted processors or others are allowed to take materials from e-waste material collected by Stafford County.” Mr. Culbert withdrew his request.
Darren Reed, Landfill Supervisor, informed the board that an engineer from Terracon would be at the landfill today to map out the new pit.
Doris Tompkins, RN, presented the FY 2011 Grant Application for approval. Approved. Mrs. Tompkins has received a $ 500 grant to start a community garden in St. John. She has contacted the city and has a couple of lots in town in mind to start the project. Anyone interested in having a garden on the site will need to sign an agreement and pay $ 25 for a 25’ x 10’ plot.
Lisa Milton, Treasurer, met with the board to discuss holding a tax sale in the county. Currently there are 106 properties that qualify for the sale. There is approximately $ 179,000.00 in outstanding taxes on the books. The county attorney/counselor will be instructed to begin the process so that a sale can be held later on in the year.
An Interlocal Agreement between Stafford County and Rice County for the E-Waste Program was reviewed. Agreement approved.
Throughout the morning mid-month accounts payable vouchers were approve for payment and meeting adjourned.
