Christmas Around the Square, St. John: Sat. December 3
A traditional city celebration of Christmas where the little ones are encourage to visit Santa and whisper their gift desires for the season and enjoy some goodies to all that visit him.
This year will be a little different - and should be a lot warmer and more comfortable - as Santa and his entourage will move indoors to the Ida Long Goodman Memorial Library.
The festivities kick off at 5 pm where the Shell Building will be the venue for the Soup Supper hosted by the St. John Girl Scouts. And in the spirit of the season, the Scouts have chosen to pledge 100% of your free will donation to Brinlyn Sanders, St. John’s own little 4 year old that is starting treatment for an inoperable brain tumor.
At 5:30 pm, Santa will be at the Ida Long Goodman Memorial Library waiting for all the good little boys and girls to come visit him. And just maybe he’ll have a treat or two for those that do! And it’s all FREE
Later that same day and same place, you won’t want to miss......
Christmas Bagpipe Conert, St. John: Sat. December 3, Ida Long Goodman Memorial Library, 7 pm in the Community Room
Pipe Major Ian Briggs of McPherson began playing the pipes as a child in Haddington Scotland then later played with the Pipe Band of the Scots Guards in the Army. Playing the bagpipes is second nature to him and one of his loves is to share the magic of the instrument and the holidays with others. This is a unique opportunity to begin the Christmas season in such a fun and harmonious way. The concert is free but a free will donation is appreciated. And this concert is also serving as the Friends of the Library (FOL) membership drive which can be had for $10 as an individual or $15 for the entire family. Be a Friend and be a part of a unique experience in St. John. FREE
And to cap the night off, turkeys and hams will be given away to those that fill out an entry and are present for the drawing right after the bagpipe concert! No purchase is necessary - the drawing is free - but you must be present to win ( cuz we don’t have anywhere to store all these hams and turkeys!)
