It’s the Season to be jolly and you’re almost guaranteed to be jollier with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree twinkling with beautiful ornaments and colorful lights.
This year, Second Chance, located at 4th and Broadway in St. John, is inviting everyone to their big Christmas Sale starting Thursday, Dec. 1. Sponsored by the Ministerial Alliance, Second Chance is the local “thrift shop” that typically carries a little bit of everything throughout the year. This year, they received a special donation of Christmas decor items with many of them brand new, never used.
“This year we have tinsel galore, boxes of brightly colored balls and a load of Christmas bows we received”, said Marlene Waddle, Ministerial Alliance and Second Chance volunteer. “These are just a few of the Christmas items just received. We also have Christmas themed stuffed animals, wall hangings, collectibles and toys.”
Not to be outmatched by your tastefully decorated home, you’ll also find fabulous Christmas sweaters - both current and vintage - to keep you warm, toasty and stylish. There’s plenty of holiday clothing for all family members and there’s also elegant brooches and kitchsy Christmas pins, necklaces and rings.
Second Chance often carries vintage items at ridiculously discounted prices. While their goal is to make money, it’s not an independent, franchised type retail store so the the quicker the stock turns over, the faster new items hit the shelves.
Proceeds from the sales at Second Chance are used in a variety of ways, but all for the purpose to help those in need. Food baskets are prepared and delivered as needed; clothing and shoes are provided; linens or housewares if needed as well as assistance in shelter needs.
Christmas is the season of giving, so give yourself a great way to save money, get beautiful items and give those less fortunate a bit of love and hope.
When: Thurs, Fri, 1 pm to 4 pm, Sat. 9 am to noon
Where: The corner of 4th St. and Broadway, St. John
