Saturday, Dec. 3
Barton Community College will once again host the Jingle Bell Swing dance, with music provided by the Hilltop Singers and a 17-piece big band made up of area musicians from 8 to 10:30 p.m. at the Great Bend American Legion, 1011 Kansas Ave.
Tickets will be available at the door, and they can be purchased for $10 per person from BCC Director of Choral Activities Vern Fryberger, (620) 792-9395.
Proceeds from the event will help fund the Hilltop Singers spring tour planned March 2012.
More than twenty-five merchants have sponsored songs for the dance. Sponsors of the dance include G & H Insurance, The Great Bend Tribune and Eric and Kathleen Stacey.
Monday, Dec. 5
Community members can treat themselves to a not so silent night when the Barton Community College Music Department hosts their annual Holiday Concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
Director of Choral Activities Vern Fryberger said the format of the concert is something the department heads have put a lot of thought into.
The concert will feature Christmas music performed by Barton’s Concert Choir, Hilltop Singers, and BCC Jazz Ensemble. Special selections will include traditional sacred and secular Christmas music by each ensemble as well as several solos and duets.
Admission is free to the public.
