Christmas Around the Square, St. John: Sat. December 3
A traditional city celebration of Christmas where the community comes together, both young and old, to be a part of the reason for the season. This year will be a little different however and all events are scheduled for indoors where it should be a lot warmer and more comfortable.
The celebration kicks off at 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a Soup Supper at the Shell Building on E. 4th Street. Hosted and sponsored by the Girl Scouts in St. John, will you enjoy a variety of soups and bread for your freewill donation. And of particular importance is that the Girl Scouts are donating 100% of the donations directly to the Brynlin Sanders Fund. Donate big, donate bold, eat hearty and get a big warm heart from the love you are sending to litte Brynlin.
From 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Santa will be visiting the Ida Long Goodman Memorial Library and encourages all the children to come by and visit with him. Santa's a pretty good guy and he might just have a little treat for you, too.
At 7 p.m. downstairs in the Community Room at the Library, is a unique concert experience you won't want to miss!
Pipe Major Ian Briggs of McPherson began playing the bagpipes as a child in Haddington Scotland then later played with the Pipe Band of the Scots Guards in the Army. Playing the bagpipes is second nature to him and one of his loves is to share the magic of the instrument and the holidays with others. This is a unique opportunity to begin the Christmas season in such a fun and harmonious way. The concert is free but a free will donation is appreciated. And this concert is also serving as the Friends of the Library (FOL) membership drive which can be had for $10 as an individual or $15 for the entire family. Be a Friend and be a part of a unique experience in St. John.
