Even without their big man Teresa Wade in the starting lineup, the St. John Lady Tigers breezed past Ransom's Western Plains Bobcats 72-20 Tuesday night at home.

The Lady Bobcats tried their best but were no match for St. John, the Tigers taking a 31-4 lead after one. Wade and Jamie Waters each scored nine with Morgan Osborne having five points, Rhian Collins four and Alexis Witt with four. Osborne, Wade and Waters each made a three during the quarter. Waters scored three layups coming off the press in a little over 15 seconds close to the end of the quarter.

Surprisingly the Bobcats used a man-to-man on the Tigers, but that didn't stop St. John from getting good looks at the basket, going into halftime leading 46-10.

The Tigers out-scored the Bobcats 12-4 in the third, St. John going into the four quarter with a 58-14 lead.

St. John's scoring continued to be spread out with five Tigers scoring in the fourth, the Tigers winning the game 76-20. The score could have been a lot worse, but the Tigers missed a number of crib shots underneath.

High scorer for St. John was Waters with 22 followed by Wade with 19, Witt 12, Osborne 11, Rhian Collins eight, Maddie Lippoldt two and Ashlyn Fisher two points.

St. John was 9-9 from the free-throw line.

Even though the Tigers lost to 4A Pratt last week, they keep their #1 ranking in 1A (Div.) followed by Hoxie, Waveley, Thunder Ridge, Spearville, South Central, Deerfield, Dexter-Cedar Vale, Pike Valley and Centralia.

Just came off the wire that Lyons knocked off the Pratt girls 52-47 tonight (Tuesday).

South Central lost another one in about a week, losing to Bucklin 48-30. They've dropped to 6th in the rankings.

Kinsley is going on a downhill spin losing two recently, one to Cunningham 40-37 and the other to Pratt-Skyline 46-40. (The Tigers have defeated both Cunningham and Pratt-Skyline this year.) St. John will face Kinsley in a make-up game on Monday, Feb. 13th at Kinsley.)
