Mother’s Day honors, St. John:    April 14 thru April 30. Everyone has a mother or someone that was like a mother to us.

The exception may be Dolly, the cloned sheep, but we digress.

The St. John News will be printing the Mother’s Day edition on May 5 and we invite all of our readers to join us in paying tribute to those fine women.  Photos,  favorite recipes, stories, trivia....whatever you have to honor her or pay tribute to her - we’d like to help you share it.  We must, must, must have your submissions no later than Friday, April 30 at noon.  And as OUR mom would say:  Noon.  Not noon-thirty.  Not the next day.  The news staff will be sharing photos of our moms, too.

Used books are good books, St. John!:    Thursday, April 22, from 3 to 7 p.m. is the preview sale at the Ida Long Goodman Memorial Library sponsored by the Friends of the Library (FOL). $1 admission (preview sale only) of FOL members free. Located at 406 N. Monroe in St. John, this is the annual sale that you just can’t miss. Books, tapes and all sorts of gently read items are for sale and we know that last year - we scored lots of goodies for next to nothing!  If you’re a procrastinator -  no worry - as the last hour of the sale is the Buck a Bag frenzy.
