Bob J. Simmons, 87, of Hutchinson, died on April 17, 2018, in Hutchinson, KS. He was born on September 29, 1930, in Phillips County, KS, the son of Everett M. and Emma L. (Hoft) Simmons. He attended Gooder Country School for one year, before attending the local schools in Kensington.

Bob J. Simmons, 87, of Hutchinson, died on April 17, 2018, in Hutchinson, KS. He was born on September 29, 1930, in Phillips County, KS, the son of Everett M. and Emma L. (Hoft) Simmons. He attended Gooder Country School for one year, before attending the local schools in Kensington.
Bob graduated from Kensington High School with the class of 1948.
He was a member of the Nickerson Masonic Lodge.
Bob had been employed by Norden Machine in Kensington and Central Machine in Russell before moving to Nickerson and was employed by Cessna. He was later employed by General Dynamics and Eaton of Hutchinson.
He enjoyed bicycle riding and rode with the BAK group several times in their annual trek across Kansas.
He looked forward to the Kansas State Fair and competing in the Pie Baking Contest. He would sometime refer to this as his 'Doughy Hobby'.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Velma White, Opal Braun and Verlyn Philbrick.
Survivors include his two nieces, Jolene Philbrick and Joyce Hoschouer both of Nickerson, and many great niece and nephews.
Bob requested that people in attendance dress in casual attire.
Visitation will be on Sunday, April 22nd, 1-6 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 23rd at 10 a.m. at the Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th, and Hutchinson, KS. Burial will be held at Wildmead Cemetery in Nickerson, KS.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Reno County in care of the funeral chapel at 300 E. 30th, Hutchinson, KS 67502.
