HUTCHINSON, Kan. - Clarence William "Bill" Fry, 88, died December 6, 2009 at Promise Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson. He was born August 15, 1921 in St. John to Clarence C. and Thelma Beman Fry.
He grew up in St. John and graduated from St. John High School. He served in World War II in the Navy stationed in the South Pacific. Following the war he worked at Douglas Aircraft and with Cessna Aircraft from 1949 to his retirement in 1984. After retirement, he was active with the Reno County Sheriff Volunteer Program and Reno County Food Bank.
On March 4, 1950, he married Opal M. Hornbaker. She died May 16, 2003.
Survivors include his two sons, Tim and wife Jenny, and Robert and wife Connie, both of Hutchinson; one sister Mary Allam of Wichita; Grandchildren Andy Fry, Wichita; Emily and Brad Wolcott, Lawrence; Kim and John Parker, Wichita and Scott and Heidi Fry of Hutchinson; great grandchildren are Haley and Sam Walcott, Zachary Fry and Evie Parker. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Rose Burke and Pansy Smith.
Funeral services are 1 p.m., Tuesday, December 8 at Elliott Chapel. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reno County Food Bank.
