OBITUARY: Harry L. (Roy) Weil 1919 - 2010

Harry L. (Roy) Weil died July 31, 2010 at Lakewood Senior Living, Pratt. He was born November 1, 1919 at his family home in St. John. He was a lifelong resident of St. John living in the home of his birth.

He graduated from St. John High School and attended Kansas State University. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943-1946 where he was a nose gunner on B-17’s.

He was a business man having operated the Independent Hardware store, later Weil Hardware, from 1946-1959. He worked for Massey Plumbing from 1959 until his retirement in 1984. He was known for sharpening all manner of saws, saw blades, chainsaw blades, knives and scissors.

He was preceded in death by Opal Campbell Weil, his wife of 65 years.

Survivors include three sons: Jerry and his wife Kim of Liberty, Mo., John and his wife Mary Jane of Flower Mound, Texas and Jeffrey of Great Bend; seven grandchildren and give great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 4 at Minnis Chapel, St. John with George Shelton presiding.

Visitation is Tuesday at the funeral  home.

Burial will be in the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John.
