Obituary Mary Dean Prescott 1918 - 2010

Mary Dean Prescott, age 91, died Friday, March 5, 2010 at her home in rural St. John.  Born March 7, 1918 at St. John, the daughter of James Alexander and Mary Lena (Thomason) Starke.

A homemaker and lifelong resident of St. John, she graduated from St. John High School in 1936 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, St. John. On Sept. 4, 1941, she married Virgil C. “Bub” Prescott at Kinsley, he died May 11, 1997.

Survivors include sons  Gerry B. Prescott, Colorado Springs, Colo., Ronny L. Prescott, St. John; grandchildren Katy Lynn Prescott and Patrick L. Prescott, both of St. John; and great grandchild, Colter John Riegel, St. John.  She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers: Olin and Melvin Starke; three sisters: Gladys Starke, Leona Jordan & Mildred Waddle.

Visitation is Monday, March 8,  from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, St. John with burial in Fairview Park Cemetery in St. John.


Memorials may be given to the church in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, Kansas  67576.
