Robert L. Fanshier, age 87, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at his home in Great Bend. He was born October 6, 1922 at Great Bend to parents J. Henry and Jennie Irene (Suchy) Fanshier.
On June 20, 1950 he married Frances R. Mills at Lawrence. He was a farmer and stockman and a lifetime resident of Stafford County, Kansas.
A World War II veteran, he served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps from Dec. 1942 to Dec. 1945. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion Argonne Post 180, and Great Bend Cooperative Association Board of Directors, all of Great Bend.
Survivors are wife, Frances R. Fanshier, of the home; Sons Randy Fanshier and wife Angie of Great Bend, Roger Fanshier and wife Gayle of Seward and Brad Fanshier and wife Danelle of Lawrence; Daughters Patricia Fanshier of Kansas City, Mo. and Pamela Phillips of Wichita; sister June Koelsch of Great Bend; 11 Grandchildren: Ryan Fanshier and wife Kristin, Memphis, Tenn., Matthew Fanshier and wife Julie, Omaha, Neb., Ben Fanshier and wife Jenna of Dodge City, Andrew Fanshier and fiance' Mercedes, Hays, Lucas Fanshier of Manhattan, Jacob Fanshier of Hays, Alisha Fanshier, Seward, Robert Phillips, Wichita, Tanna Fanshier, Lawrence, Sam Fanshier, Lawrence and Tate Fanshier of Lawrence; three Great-grandchildren: Cole Fanshier, Cooper Fanshier and Aiden Fanshier.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 10 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Great Bend. Officiant is the Reverend Tom Sheldon. Interment will be at Eden Valley Cemetery, Seward, with Military Honors by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Visitation is July 9 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home.
