The harsh reality of recent budget reductions has continued our efforts at being as efficient as possible with our district staff and resources.
One area that we continue to review is the ways to share services, programs, and staff with neighboring school districts.
Currently St. John - Hudson schools share staff and programs with the Stafford school district. Below are descriptions of the current shared programs and staff.
One teacher is shared between the two school districts for Spanish classes. The teacher provides Spanish in St. John in the morning and Stafford in the afternoon.
The Parents as Teachers program shares staff for the program in both districts. The program is currently funded in part by a grant that is written for the two schools.
Elementary counseling services are shared between the two districts. The person has regularly scheduled times in each elementary building, but special programming allows for changes for special events.
St. John students have the opportunity to take Health Science classes over the internet that is taught at Stafford High School.
Non-traditional and adult students can complete their high school diploma at the Adult Learning Center. This program is shared between the two schools and is hosted at the Stafford High School.
Driver's Education is instructed in both school districts by the same person. Stafford generally provides this in June and St. John in July.
In the future the two districts are moving to share a teacher for Family and Consumer Sciences classes. Many of these classes are ones that used to be called Home Economics classes.
As all schools in the State continue to work through these difficult economic times, the Stafford and St. John school districts will continue to pursue ways to work cooperatively for the best interest of all our students.
