God went to the most honest truck driver he could find and said, "Because of your honesty, I will give you anything you want.”

"I would like to have a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive there". Then the truck driver paused, "On second thought, I would like to be able to understand women"?

Without hesitation, God asked, "Do you want a two or four lane bridge"?

I may not understand women but it doesn't surprise me. I don't understand lots of things.

I don't understand how a teacher can go to a classroom, day after day, full of children and make teaching look easy.  I know I couldn't do their job.

I don't understand how factory workers live and die by the bell. There is a bell to tell you when to start work, when to eat and when to quit. I did it for six weeks and realized that I couldn't do it.

Many years ago my wife and I was visiting my brother, Gary, who is a Missouri State Trooper. As we were eating dinner, he got a call that a man in a blue van had a gun. We jumped in his car and headed down the highway and saw the blue van coming toward us. We made one of those quick "U" turns and pulled the van over. Before he got out of the car, he gave me a gun and told me that if anything happen, shoot to kill!

Before I could get the lump out of my throat and give a nervous and scared, "whaaat", he had the man on the ground and in hand cuffs. There is no way that I could ever do his job.

Gary is now a Captain and the Director of the Driver Examination Division, which includes the Commercial Drivers License testing. He decided that the best way for him to do his job was to get his CDL.

Now he has a desk, patrol car and a state semi truck. After all of those years of pulling over trucks, he had his own opinion of truck drivers. Now with some time behind the steering wheel of his truck, I think his opinion of truck drivers may have changed.

Several times now he has made the statement, "I don't know how you guys do it".

So many people make the jobs they have look so easy to do until you try to do it.

Truck driving is one of those easy looking jobs. If you watch daytime television, you may have seen the commercial, "Make big bucks, drive a big truck".

If it was that easy you would already be a truck driver and understand what we do.
