I was glad I made the effort to attend the meeting Tuesday in St. John regarding the situation of our Stafford County Hospital. I wanted to know the facts coming from those involved in the situation and not from “coffee klatch”. The board, commissioners, professional people who had been called in to help with the crisis did well in answering many questions that came before them.
See what is new at the lumberyard.
I just had to let you know that I really like the new items for sale at the St. John Lumber & Supply.
We would like to say thank you to all the kindhearted and loving people who have helped our daughter, Brynlin.
--Thank you for anniversary wishes

Mitch Holmes, State Rep and Co-chair of 2011 KPERS Study Commission sets the facts straight.
I have two issues to address. The first issue is the zoning that has been in the planning phase for several months.
The second issue is the drinking water in our community.
I recently had the opportunity to participate in the 7th Annual Michael Fensky Memorial CO-ED Softball Tournament held in Hudson, Kansas. The hospitality shown by all the people of the Hudson community simply was astounding.

I read the Stafford County Commissioners recently were advised by Mr. Steve Moody, EMT Director, that he would write a letter to the City of St. John requesting a no parking zone in front of the new Annex Building. My land, that might have been appropriate in the 1940s when parking was at a premium.
To all the hearts that have been touched by Elaine Sayler.
I am emailing on behalf of my cousin Jamie and my older brother Matthew.
We are the grandsons of Anna Vee and Jim Searle. Our Grandpa Searle would have been 73 years old on July 29th but unfortunately he was struck and killed while riding his bicycle just west of Stafford on November 4, 2009.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude for all who were instrumental in putting out the fire in our garage and shop:
Who Pays the Tax?
Let’s tax the greedy oil companies. Take away their accelerated depreciation tax break and get them with higher taxes. That will teach them for being profitable.
Readers write in from around the county with thanks for coverage, support, cards, donations and the online edition.
Ken, Brenda, Britani and Derek Grabast would like to thank each and every person in our awesome little community.
Thank you to the voters of Macksville for supporting me for a place on the city council.
I would like to thank everyone in the city of St. John who supported and voted for me in the recent city council elections.
I am the principal of Macksville High School and I am somewhat new to the area around Macksville.
I have told many people what an awesome community that Macksville is but since I am the principal that could be taken as a PR statement and perhaps I could be a bit bias.
Some students feel scammed by tv purchases
Anyone notice the two nice 47-inch TVs hanging in the St. John school cafeteria? They appeared just before we hosted the Sub-State Basketball Tournament. At least one of them was bought with STUCO (Student Council) money raised by the students through concession stands and candle sales BUT without the members’ permission. The purchase was given the OK by the organizational sponsor and approved by an administrator even though the students had not voted to use their money to buy it.
Appreciation for police and EMS support
We would like to express our appreciation to EMT Nick Lauffer and EMT T.J. Rockenbach...
