Letter to the Editor: In need of a little neighborly help

I'm in need of some good ole' fashion neighborly help.  We all plan on retiring with a little cushion in case of emergencies.  I didn't realize having Cancer would be catastrophic. Between 4 surgeries, chemo and radiation it completely wiped out my nest egg.  So now I live on Social Security and a little pension.

I imagine everyone has noticed that my yard doesn't look very good and my house needs painting.  I just don't have the money for it.

I was hoping that someone could keep my yard up this summer.  I certainly would appreciate it.

I also have a power line setting on my guttering that needs to be lifted up and re-tacked.  Seems like a fire hazard to me.

If anyone could cut out a doorway between my bedroom and bathroom and frame it I would be able to get out if I had a fire.  This has been worrying me for quite awhile.

I'm listed in the phone book and if you'd like to help me that would be wonderful.

Blessings,

Editors Note - An initial mowing has been done, but there is still work to be done. Persons interested in helping can contact Kylie St. John directly or the Community Involvement Program at 620-549-3201.
