WINFIELD The McPherson College track and field teams returned to competition after a two-week layoff and completed their preparations for next week's Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Championships at Saturday's Southwestern Relays at Richard L. Jantz Stadium. The Bulldogs were led by Amy Braimbridge, who lowered her NAIA Championship automatic qualifying mark in the 400-meter dash and anchored the 400-meter relay to an A-cut mark.
Braimbridge knocked half a second off her previous school record and NAIA A-cut mark, winning the 400 in 55.10 seconds. That mark currently ranks fifth nationally. The Bulldogs placed four in the top six - all in personal-best times. Genevie Rivera took third in 59.36, Tatelyn Lasley was fifth in 1:01.68 andAne' Archuleta was sixth in 1:01.84. It was Archuleta's first 400 in a McPherson uniform. Rivera also added a seventh-place finish in the 200 (26.02).
The McPherson 4x100 relay took third with a 47.92 clocking, shaving four-tenths of a second off the team's previous top time.
