Two for the price of one would be one way to describe Tuesday’s I-135 Shootout golf tournament in which the Garden City Buffaloes boys team competed on two separate courses over 36 holes of play.

The Buffs placed seventh in the Hesston Golf Course portion of the tournament on Tuesday morning with a score of 341, and then traveled a few miles up the I-135 freeway and placed fifth at Turkey Creek Golf Course in McPherson with a nearly identical score of 340.

Tyler Morren had the team’s best finish at Hesston with an 81 for 16th place, while Aaron Schafer’s 83 was the low score for the Buffs at Turkey Creek.

At Hesston, other counting scores for the Buffs were Aaron Schafer, 84; Reid Richmeier, 86 and Mason Shaddix, 90. The counting scores at Turkey Creek also included Shaddix at 84, Morren at 86 and Richmeier at 87.

Head coach Jacob Waller said after Monday’s Western Athletic Conference meet in Great Bend that there would be a combination of players comprising his team that would travel on Thursday to the Junction City Invitational.

Included on the roster for the Buffs on Thursday will be junior Sion Audrain, who has had to sit out the last three tournaments (including last Friday’s Hutchinson Invitational) due to a violation of school and team policies.
