The 1A regional basketball pairings have been announced by the Kansas High School Activities Association.
On the girls' side in the Clafin Regional, St. John (19-1) has a bye in the first round and will play the winner of the Rosel-Pawnee Heights (7-11) - Chase (6-14) game played at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26 . The winner will face the winner of the Quivira Heights (17-3) – Claflin (12-8) game in the championship round played on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m.
On the boys' side in the Claflin Regional, St. John (12-8) has a bye in the first round. The winner of the Claflin (9-11) – Stafford (3-14) game played at 7:00PM on Monday, Feb. 22 will play St. John on Thursday, Feb. 25 . The winner from both brackets will play in the championship round on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
On the girls' side in the Coldwater-South Central Regional, the Macksville (9-11) – Cunningham (11-9) game played at Cunningham on Tuesday at 7:00PM Feb.23 will play Kiowa-South Barber (19-1) on Friday, Feb. 26 . The winners from both brackets will play in the championship round on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m.
On the boys' side in the Coldwater-South Central Regional, Macksville has a bye in the first round. The winner of the Cunningham (9-11) – Haviland (6-12) game will play Macksville (17-3) on Thursday, Feb. 25 . The winners from each bracket will play in the championship round on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
(A bye counts as a win. The win has been added to each team listed above receiving one. These records do not count last Friday's games.)
The top two teams from each of the girls' tournaments as well as the top two from the boys' tournaments will advance to substate competition held at the Dodge City Civic Center and the Larned Middle School on March 4-6.
