The Lady Mustangs added one to the win column, Tuesday, defeating the Lady Coyotes of Kinsley 57-48, but fell later in the week to the Quivira Heights Lady Thunderbirds 38-68.

“The girls are playing very well right now,” said head coach Kathryn McAllister. “They're working together and having fun too. It's exciting to see how far we've come this year and have it show in our recent wins.”

Against Kinsley the Lady Mustangs shot 55 percent from the filed, which according to McAllister is the best the team has done this season.

“We did a good job of finding the holes in their defense and attacking,” she said.

The girls scored 22 in the first quarter and another 12 in the second with Jena Clowers hitting a trio from the field and Keira Parr matching with a pair of her own.

Yaz Susoeff hit two from the outside for six, and match with two more in the third and another in the fourth for 18 points earned, but Megan Wood had the hot offensive hand sinking 11 shots from the field and one from the line for 23 points. Closers had 10, Parr had seven.

Against Quivira, the ladies meet more than their match with the Thunderbirds scoring 45 points before the break and hitting 47 percent from the field.

Macksville scored nine in the first, 14 in the second, and nine and six in the final two.

The Lady Mustangs travel to St. John, Friday Feb. 19 for Parents Night and the final regular season game.
