USD 350 St. John Hudson and USD 351 Macksville will have eight students representing their respective schools at the KSHSAA state track and field competition Friday and Saturday at Wichita State University.
In individual events, Macksville will be sending five athletes.
Seth Filbert qualified in the 1600-meter with a time of 4:52.46. The record time is 4:15.70 set in 1979.
Marc Renfro and Adam Oak qualified in both the 110-meter hurdles and the 300meter hurdles.
Renfro placed first in the 110 at regional competition in Greensburg with a time of 14.97. Oak tied for second with a time of 15.46.
In the 300-meter Oak placed second with a time of 41.38 and Renfro ran fourth with a time of 42.09
Macksville boys also qualified for state in the 400- and 1600-meter relay events.
In the boys javelin throw Dakota Allison finished third with a distance of 161-feet 9.25”.
Megan Wood was the lone female to qualify for the Lady Stangs.
Wood had a time of 1:03.28 for third place in the 400-meter.
St. John’s Daniele Wendland also qualified in the 400 finished fourth at 1:04.24.
Jamie Waters got a trip to state in the 800-meter finishing with a time of 2:34.55. Waters worked her way up through the pack running sixth before moving up two positions to qualify.
St. John’s Teresa Wade qualified in the field events winning the shot put with a distance of 39’09.25. In the javelin throw, she finished third with a distance of 107-09.
Wood, Macksville, won the event with a distance of 121-05.
