The St. John Tiger golfers finished second in their home invitational battling some strong and gusty winds along with nine other schools, Wednesday.
The Tigers lost out by two points to 6A McPherson’s JV team with the Tigers coming into the clubhouse at 357 and the Bulldogs shooting 355.
Danton Hilton led the day for the Tiger Blue team shooting 86 for a fifth place finish.
“I was doing really good up until this hole,” he said after shooting par on the first two holes but going two over on hole three. “I came up short in the trees over there, and then missed a put.”
Aaron Spare finished in seventh place with 87 shots in the tight top. Austin Young hit 91 for the third best score for the Tigers and 13 overall.
The strong wind kept the top ten fairly tight with only 8 strokes separating first and tenth in individual scores.
Quivira Heights Thunderbird Matt Weber sailed on the wind for a hole-in-one shot on number seven. He finished 29 on the day with 100 more shots coming in to the clubhouse at 101.
