HAYSVILLE — The Newton High School softball team dropped a pair of games to Campus Tuesday in Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division I play in Haysville.

Campus won the first game 12-2 and the second game 19-7. The first game was called after six innings on the 10-run rule. The second game was called after five innings.

In the first game, Newton scored two runs in the top of the first. Campus scored in every innings but the third.

Emily Peaney and Regan Treffer each went two for two hitting for Newton. Tista Stark went two for three.

Bailey Stanley and MaKayla Chavez each had a home run for Campus.

Lauren Johnson went the distance for Campus for the win, striking out five. Alex Llamas took the loss for Newton, Zoe Stonehouse finished the game.

In the second game, Campus scored in every inning, breaking the game open with six runs in the first inning and eight runs in the third. Newton scored a run in the first and four in the third.

Campus, 7-1, was led by Averi Lazier, going two for three with two RBIs.

For Newton, Mallory Seirer and Toria Thaw each went two for three with two RBIs. Thaw hit a home run. Peaney went three for four.

Kelie Stanley claimed the win for Campus, striking out two. Martins Sophie struck out five.

Newton used three pitchers with Blazee Stahl taking the loss.

Newton is 0-10, 0-4 in AV-CTL I play and hosts Derby at 4 p.m. Friday.
