ST. JOHN, KS — Jan Leon Zimmerman passed away quietly at his home in St. John on Saturday, October 27, 2018. He was 63 years of age. Jan was born on March 6, 1955 in St. John KS to Dillian McFarland and Velma Ruth Zimmerman. He attended St. John schools and graduated in 1973. Even in Junior High, Jan was an accomplished musician and classical guitarist, playing at several events around the area. He worked as a printer in high school at The St. John News and later for Goldenbelt Printing in Great Bend. Many of his happiest year were spent working for his brother, Mac, at Zimmerman Photo-Electric in St. John. In later years, he worked for Stafford County Flour Mills in Hudson, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dillian and Velma Zimmerman, and a great nephew, Layten Rice.

He is survived by two sisters, Judie Rice and husband Wayne of Hutchinson, KS; Julie Fox and husband John of St. John; three brothers, Dillian M. “Mac” Zimmerman Jr. and wife Debbie of St. John; Tom L. Zimmerman and wife Zora of Ames, IA; Rex A. Zimmerman and wife Diann of Kiowa, KS; five nieces, Brent and Carrie Rice Winans, Cassie Rice, Zak and Anna Zimmerman Meek, Elizabeth Zimmerman, Michael and Alissa Fox Swickard; seven nephews, John Zimmerman, Jeff Zimmerman, Joe Zimmerman, Mitch and Angie Rice, Mark and Erin Zimmerman, Jason Fox, Matthew and Alex Fox; 10 great-nephews and seven great-nieces and many other friends and relatives.

The family will hold a graveside service at a later date
