The Macksville Cross Country team captured 4th place for the girls and a 9th place for the boys at the state cross country meet in Wamego.

The Macksville Running Mustangs had more than a good day, but a great day last Saturday, as the girls placed 4th out of 12 teams entered (both the boys and girls each had three teams entered from each regional), and the boys placed 9th at the Kansas State 1A finals held at Wamego’s Golf Course. The girls ran in the morning, while the boys ran early that afternoon.

“Our Macksville Running Mustang girls and boys both ran very well, considering that all but one had never ran this course or even been to a State Meet before,” said Macksville’s cross-country coach Mike Hullman. “The times were very good. Both our girls and boys have rekindled the rich Macksville tradition of moving on to the state level and showing what the Macksville Running Mustangs have accomplished, making it to the State Championship Meet.”

Hullman continued saying, “It has been a great feeling for me to see them at regionals, and earn the right to move on and run at the class 1A State Championship Meet. This has been a very rewarding and successful season. It’s had a lot of exciting and remarkable moments.”
