Police officer arrested in domestic violence incident

JUNCTION CITY — A Junction City police officer and his live-in girlfriend were arrested following a domestic violence incident Monday in the Geary County town, authorities said.

The arrested man was identified as Junction City police Lt. Jason Waryan, 39.

The arrested woman was identified as Krysteen Harbert, 27.

The arrests were made by special agents from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation after they were asked to investigate the incident around 1 p.m. Monday by the Junction City Police Department.

According to Nicole Hamm, a spokeswoman for the KBI, the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning between Waryan and Harbert in the 700 block of McClure Street in Junction City. The KBI said Waryan was on duty at the time.

Waryan was arrested in connection with domestic battery and criminal restraint. Harbert was arrested in connection with domestic battery.

The case remains under investigation by the KBI. Additional details weren't available.


Bottles and Brews in Wamego

WAMEGO — Bottles and Brews will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at the Columbian Theatre, 521 Lincoln Ave., in Wamego.

Eleven downtown Wamego locations will serve specialty beer, wine and hors d'oeuvres in a fundraiser for The Columbian Theatre. Attendees must be 21 and older.
