Obituary: Lois Kruse

SYLVIA  -  Lois Lichte Kruse, 99, died on April 14, 2020, at Waldron Place, Hutchinson. Born June 14, 1920 near Stafford she was the daughter of Samuel and Anna Lichte.  After graduating from Stafford High School, she attended one year at Bethany College and began her 44-year teaching career in Stafford and Reno counties.  She received her Bachelor of Education at Sterling College in 1957 and her Master’s degree from Emporia State University in 1969.On August 4, 1946, she married Carl Kruse and they made their home in Sylvia.  Carl died in 1999.  In 2002, Lois moved to Hutchinson where she volunteered at the Hutchinson Hospital and local schools and served on election boards. She was a member of the Sterling First United Methodist Church.She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Edwin and Edward Lichte and sister, Alathea Newell Watts.   Survivors include brother-in-law: Lyle Watts, Yates Center. Nieces: Margie Ritter, St. John, Mary Morris, Olathe, Jo Newell-Singh, Ozark, Missouri, Jean Newell Morgan, Cleveland, Missouri, Karen Newell, Baldwin City, Janet Elman, Del Valle, Texas, Marsha Hudson, Sterling, Mary Lou Ellis, Riley, LuAnn Buckwalter, Sylvia, Morgan Watts, Joplin, Missouri. Nephews: Sam Lichte, Topeka, Bruce Newell, Stafford, Al Kruse, Sterling, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
