Pratt, KS - Martha J. Norris, 95, passed away in Pratt, KS, February 21, 2021. And the world lost one of its most caring and most selfless ladies. She was born December 21, 1925, in Cunningham, KS, to Melvin & Gertrude Cozens. The family moved to Coats, KS, in 1927, where Martha attended school. She graduated from Coats High in 1943, and went to work in the local helium plant, as part of the war effort.

Martha married Jimmy Norris on July 23, 1944, at Grace United Methodist Church in Coats. Their honeymoon lasted nearly 70 years. Jimmy passed away January 19, 2014, but their love for each other will never die.

Martha was a member of Eastern Star, and served as Worthy Grand Matron in 1993-94. She was a cancer survivor. As soon as she’d recovered from surgery, Martha volunteered to travel the state and comfort other women who’d endured a mastectomy. She helped hundreds feel better.

She is survived by son Joe (Marilynn) Norris of Andover, KS, grandchildren Mike Norris and Cassie Norris Mar, and grandchildren J.J. Norris, Liam Mar & Jillian Voth.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy, both parents, and both sisters, Mildred Eubank & Normagene Cook.

Cremation has taken place. A private family inurnment will be held in Coats Cemetery with Tom Walters officiating.
